All good things in the world come from many different avenues. Finding these gems however are usually what is difficult. I wanted to use this page as a way to shed light on the things I find interesting, just plain dope, and things I believe deserve more shine. Enjoy.
St. Vincent | Birth In Reverse | 2.25.14
Fresh off the heels of receiving a 2013 Smithsonian Magazine American Ingenuity Award, Annie Clark (St. Vincent) is set to release her 4th studio album she declares is “a party record you could play at a funeral.” Let’s go.
Arcade Fire | Afterlife | Reflektor
After giving it a lukewarm reception at first and also like many lasting albums of that have preceded it, every spin of “Reflektor” has become more and more intriguing. This is single 2, track 1, from disc 2, “Afterlife”. Look out for Arcade Fire’s work on Spike Jonez’s critically acclaimed new romance “Her”, hitting theatres December 18. Cheers.
Lily Allen | Hard Out Here
Lily returns back to us four years after her 2009 success “It’s Not You, It’s Me” with the same wicked tongue we’ve become accustomed to over the years. Even after two babies, she’s still at it. On Hard Out There, Lily returns to her familiar sound courtesy of Greg Kurstin, the industry’s current electro-pop it-man. The video is an homage or some might say diss to Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines. Ms. Allen continues to spark up the discussion around sexism and misogyny which has recently been brought to light by her fellow compatriot Kate Nash and Chvrches front woman, Lauren Mayberry.
